ASTM A325 and ASTM A490 heavy hex structural bolts are high-strength connection assemblies widely used for steel structures in North American and global engineering projects. The current governing updated standard is ASTM F3125-2023, which fully replaces the legacy specifications. The products include A325 medium-high strength grade and A490 ultra-high strength grade heavy hex structural bolts, supplied with matching American standard nuts and flat washers. They realize frictional connections of steel structures via precise pre-tension, featuring large bearing capacity, slip resistance, fatigue resistance and suitability for heavy dynamic loads. Widely adopted in overseas steel structure projects, international bridges, heavy-duty machinery, petrochemical industry and high-end prefabricated buildings, they are core standard fasteners for export projects and ASTM-spec engineering.

Manufactured to original ASTM specifications with broad global compatibility Produced in strict accordance with ASTM standards. Dimensions, thread precision and mechanical properties fully comply with acceptance criteria for overseas projects in North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Australia and other regions. Compatible with imported steel structure equipment and ASTM construction procedures, they serve as universal fasteners exempted from repeated inspection for international projects.
Tiered strength grades precisely matched to loads across all working conditions Standard high-strength A325 is suitable for most steel workshops, venues and conventional bridge projects. Ultra-high strength A490 is engineered for long-span, heavy-load, high-pressure and high-vibration applications. It features far superior shear, tensile and deformation resistance compared with ordinary high-strength bolts and delivers a higher structural safety margin.
Heavy hex design for stable bearing and anti-slip performance The enlarged Heavy Hex head provides a larger bearing area and uniform stress distribution, resisting slipping and head rupture during tightening. The dedicated short-thread design increases the effective bearing area of the bolt shank and delivers outstanding slip resistance at joints, eliminating risks of loosening and displacement of steel structure connections.
Stable heat treatment for superior fatigue resistance and durability Controlled-atmosphere quenching and tempering yields uniform and stable metallographic structure, effectively preventing delayed cracking and brittle fracture. Capable of enduring long-term dynamic loads, cyclic vibration and temperature fluctuations, the bolts excel in fatigue and aging resistance to extend the service life of buildings.
Diverse anti-corrosion options for wide environmental adaptability Multiple surface anti-corrosion treatments are available. Hot-dip galvanization offers strong coating adhesion and acid-alkali corrosion resistance, ideal for outdoor bridges and coastal high salt-spray environments. Black finish suits indoor precision steel structures, balancing appearance and rust protection to meet construction requirements of various scenarios.
Full-inspection quality control with complete traceable documentation Each batch undergoes hardness testing, tensile and shear mechanical tests, torque coefficient inspection and visual non-destructive testing. Complete factory certificates, test reports and material certificates can be supplied to satisfy stringent acceptance requirements of overseas projects and large-scale infrastructure.
Overseas international steel structure projects, ASTM prefabricated buildings and export infrastructure projects
Joint connections for long-span steel workshops, convention centers, stadiums and high-rise steel buildings
Heavy-load connections for highway & railway steel bridges, sea-crossing bridges and municipal steel trestles
Fixation for petrochemical equipment, heavy machinery, port facilities and power steel structure bases
Steel connections for outdoor photovoltaic steel structures, curtain wall steel structures, weathering projects and steel structures in highly corrosive environments
All steel structure works designed to ASTM standards requiring high-strength frictional connections
This series of ASTM heavy hex bolts are high-strength frictional connection assemblies. Special torque wrenches shall be adopted for installation following standard procedures of initial tightening, re-tightening and final tightening. Hammering or forced hole reaming is prohibited to ensure the accuracy of pre-tension. Bolts of different strength grades must not be mixed. Nuts and washers matched for A325 and A490 are dedicated sets and cannot be cross-assembled, otherwise the stress stability of joints will be impaired. Galvanized bolts shall apply corresponding anti-galling treatment to prevent seizing and slipping during installation.
Full range of ASTM A325/A490 bolts with regular imperial sizes are in sufficient stock. Bolts, nuts and washers are packed separately as matched sets with solid packaging and precise counting to avoid collision and thread damage during transit. Mass foreign trade orders and customized production for engineering projects are supported. Products with special lengths, customized anti-corrosion treatments and weathering steel materials can be manufactured as requested. Stable long-term bulk supply is available, with complete QC documents provided throughout the whole process to meet one-stop procurement requirements for overseas projects.
