The fixing principle of expansion anchors relies on wedge taper to generate frictional gripping force for secure fastening. One end of the screw is threaded while the other is tapered. It is covered by a metal sleeve with several slits on half of the cylinder. Insert the whole assembly into a pre-drilled hole in the wall, then tighten the nut. The nut pulls the screw outward and draws the tapered section into the metal sleeve. The sleeve expands and locks tightly inside the hole. It is generally used to fasten guardrails, awnings, air conditioners and other items onto substrates such as concrete and brick.
